Salary to Hourly Calculator FAQ
To convert annual salary to hourly rate, divide your annual salary by the total number of hours worked per year. For a standard full-time job: Annual Salary ÷ (40 hours/week × 52 weeks) = Hourly Rate. For example: $52,000 ÷ 2,080 hours = $25/hour.
If you receive paid vacation, include it in your calculation (use 52 weeks). If your vacation is unpaid, subtract those weeks from 52. For example, if you take 2 weeks unpaid vacation, use 50 weeks in your calculation instead of 52.
Bonuses increase your effective hourly rate. Add your average annual bonus to your base salary, then divide by total hours worked. This gives you a more accurate picture of your total compensation per hour.
It depends on your classification. Non-exempt salaried employees earning less than $684/week ($35,568/year) are entitled to overtime. Exempt employees (executives, professionals, administrators) are not entitled to overtime pay regardless of hours worked.

Convert both offers to hourly rates using their respective work schedules. Consider total compensation including benefits, vacation time, and work-life balance. A lower salary with better benefits or fewer hours might have a higher effective value.
For a complete picture, yes. Add the value of health insurance, retirement contributions, and other benefits to your annual compensation. Benefits typically add 20-30% to your total compensation value.
If you're exempt and work more than 40 hours without overtime pay, your effective hourly rate decreases. For example, if you earn $52,000 but work 50 hours/week, your rate drops from $25/hour (40 hrs) to $20/hour (50 hrs).
